Territory

Territory of Land

My works are deeply rooted in personal and social experiences that have profoundly shaped my artistic vision. Before immigrating, as a farewell painting from my homeland, I began depicting the landscapes surrounding Tehran—its vast plains, rugged mountains, and shifting skies—which deeply inspired me. I have always been captivated by landscapes as they represent nature directly, and I see them as slices of the entire existence. I decided to explore the anatomy of nature, improvising with colours while studying Iran’s mountains and plains. Bright, sometimes even neon, colours like pinks, reds, and purple-reds are used, along with mixed media techniques and quick-drying acrylic paints.

In these paintings, landscapes are viewed as territories, reflecting the local weather conditions and flora. I assert ownership over the climate within each painting, as if it were a personal possession, when depicting a landscape. Plants grow between a two-dimensional surface and a line, vibrant with neon colours and a palette that aims to stimulate and enhance perception.

Territory of the body

After immigrating to Canada, in adapting to the new climate, the figures found a more comfortable space for their formation and expression. This became a place where a woman could proudly display her breasts, torso, and female figure. She could reveal her lust, pain, and dreams to the viewer. Some works depict humans as diptychs, sometimes combined with animals or plants.
